Abstract
Umesh Chandra ([4]) writes in I The Week i , people who regard the method adopted by the union government to abrogate Article 370 as constitutional fraud were either naive in understanding the constitution or cynical in their approach. The historic event of the abrogation of Article 370, which granted special status to the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir on August 5, 2019, was met with both support and opposition from civil society, including scholars and academicians. As S. Surya Prakash ([16]) writes in I The Hindu i , the order of August 5, 2019, abrogating Article 370, was constitutionally valid as Article 370 (3) empowers the President to pass such orders.
