This document is an editorial introducing a topical collection titled "Solar and Stellar Dynamos: A New Era." The collection consists of 15 comprehensive review papers that summarize the outcomes of an international workshop on solar and stellar dynamos. The workshop brought together researchers from 13 countries to discuss observations, simulations, and models related to the generation of magnetic fields in the Sun and other stars. The review papers cover a wide range of topics, including observations of the solar cycle, magnetic fields in cool stars, formation and evolution of magnetic structures, small-scale dynamo action, and dynamo models.
