Abstract
The article discusses the recent research showing a new interest in the history of the horn in France. Topics include "Old French Horn School," a tradition which was characterized by the worship of a dear sound and the use of vibrato; the goal being to go back two generations before French horn players like Lucien Thevet and Jean Devemy; and sound sources being discussed allowing us to hear some of the major artists of the Belle Epoque.
