Abstract
The article discusses cataract surgery in children with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) associated uveitis. It is stated that uveitis is often asymptomatic in patients and is often detected on slit-lamp biomicroscopic examination. It is recommended to give anti-inflammatory therapy before and after cataract surgery to reduce intraocular inflammation. An overview of the results of a study by the Massachusetts Eye Research and Surgery Institute on patients from 1985 to 2005 is offered.
