Abstract
This study focuses on the microstructure evolution in additively manufactured 316 L steel using the modeling framework reproducing the laser powder bed process in a virtual form. The specific microstructure obtained is characterized by two-component Goss and cube texture and consists of both long columnar and fine equiaxed grains. Results show close consistency with the experimental data. The study underlines the importance of three-dimensional analysis when considering such inhomogeneous microstructures as those produced by additive manufacturing. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
