The effect of Impatiens balsaminaL. extract on structural, morphological, optical, and photocatalytic properties of Zn2SnO4

Abstract
In this study, a facile and green synthesis approach of Zn2SnO4was conducted by using Impatiens balsaminaL. aqueous leaf extract through the hydrothermal method. The results show that Zn2SnO4was successfully produced with a specific characteristic which is strongly influenced by the presence of extract. Furthermore, X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern showed an enhancement of crystallinity along with the increase of extract quantity. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) and transmission electron microscope (TEM) analysis confirmed the formation of irregular, spherical, and octahedral shaped of Zn2SnO4particles, based on extract concentration used. The optical bandgap values ​​of the obtained Zn2SnO4were different based on morphology. This is because the synthesized microstructure showed good photocatalytic activity in the degradation of methylene blue (MB) under UV irradiation. These results confirm that I. balsaminais a promising material for mediating the synthesis of Zn2SnO4, the properties of which can be controlled by adjusting the concentration of the leaf extract.
