Abstract
The Quadruple four tank system is one of the real time complex multi-variable tank systems. It involves various process variables like pressure inside of the tank, level of the tanks, flow rate of the process fluid which flows into the tank system. All these variables are to be sensed and controlled. Difficulty lies in the sensing and controlling of these variables as they are inter linked with one another. Flow rate of the process fluid influences or determines the level of the fluid present inside the tank. The system includes two or more input variables with two or more output variables that can be represented using Mathematical Modeling. Here in this paper, the Quadruple System is mathematically modelled, and the linearization is achieved using Taylor Series method to obtain the transfer function model of the system. Further, a Controller based on Bacteria Foraging Optimization Algorithm and Particle Swarm Optimization technique is used to tune the controller. The TD (time domain) and TI (time integral) performance criteria are used to assess the overall performance of the proposed controllers using MATLAB Simulink.
