Abstract
This paper proposes a novel three-port power converter (TP-PC) for large-scale photovoltaic (PV) applications with thermal integration. By combining the thyristors with the highly controllable high-voltage (HV) side MMC, the medium-voltage (MV) side MMC is replaced by six thyristor valves, significantly reducing device cost and conversion losses. A coupled capacitor voltage fluctuation estimation (CCVFE)-based thyristors commutation control strategy is developed to ensure the stable operation of the TPPC. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is validated through both simulation and experimental results.
