Вниманию читателя предлагается историко-филологическое исследование древней и раннесредневековой истории угров. Наряду с привлекаемыми обычно для решения этой проблемы сведениями византийских и арабско-персидских писателей автор в значительной мере оперирует данными гидронимики и этнонимии, которые позволили по-новому взглянуть на древнюю историю угров. Их начальная история связана с гуннами и локализуется на Монгольском Алтае в последних столетиях до н. э. Отсюда они в составе гуннской орды мигрируют на запад — сначала в Южное Приуралье, что фиксируется гидронимикой Птолемея (II в. н. э.), затем на Северный Кавказ, где гунны-гундуры известны в V—VII вв. С VII в. известен этноним угров, с первой половины IX в. арабские географы помещают мадьяр в междуречье Дона и Южного Буга, известны ей и в.н.н.д.р — унногундуры примерно в области Донбасса да Нижнего Дона. В конце IX в. оба народа ушли на Дунай. Другая группа мадьяр ок. IХ в. мигрировала с Эмбы и Яика в Западное Приуралье и Среднее Поволжье. Упоминаемые арабскими писателями баджгирды в сообщениях о событиях по IХ—Х в. — мадьяры; их имя заимствовали тюркибашкиры. Монография рассчитана на финно-угроведов ‒ историков и филологов, на специалистов по истории Восточной Европы I тыс. н. э., студентов и краеведов / This is a historical-philological investigation of ancient and early medieval history of the Ugrians. Beside usually used information of the Byzantine, Arab and Persian writers there are also involved the data of hydronymy and ethnic names, which permits to see the problems in question from new point of view. An early history of the Ugrians is deeply connected with the Huns and begins in Mongolia before new era. The ethnic name of the HunsGundurs is Ugrian. Then they and other Ugrians have migrated to the West ‒ firstly to the South Ural region, then to North Caucasus region. From the VII century has arisen the ethnic name of the Ugrians itself, from the first half of the IX century the name of the Magyars between the rivers Don and South Bug; the Arab and Persian writers knew also Huns-Gundurs as certain people v.n.n.d.r. Then both the Magyars and the v.n.n.d.r have migrated to the Danube region. Another group of the Magyars has migrated from the rivers Emba and Jaik to the Volga-Kama region near the IX century. The ethnic name of the Turcic Bashkirs has originated from the name of the Magyars. This monograph intends for the historians and philologists in Finno-Ugristic, also is recommended to the students and regional historians.
