Abstract
Highlights •Highly concentrated volatile organic compounds mixture was steam-reformed to produce hydrogen (H2).•Basic promoters (Ce, La, Sm, Fe, Tb, Ca, Mn, Sr, V, Hf, and Cs) were impregnated into Ni/Al2O3.•NiCe/Al2O3 achieved an overall H2 yield and C1 conversion of 91 % and 99 % at 550 °C, S/C of 6, and GHSV of 15,000 h−1.•NiCe/Al2O3 showed stable catalytic activity over 100 h reforming reaction.
