Abstract
Highlights •CS shaping and CuO precipitation happened simultaneously during preparing CuO/CS.•CuO/CS hydrogel sphere had a macro-size and good reusability.•NaHCO3 not only facilitated phenol degradation but also inhibited Cu2+ leaching.•The developed CuO/CS + PDS + NaHCO3 system showed good anti-interference ability.•OHads, SO4−ads, O2−, 1O2 and Cu(III) were the main active species.
