Abstract
Highlights •An interfacial polarized electric field is produced by the charge imbalance caused by electron metal-support interactions at the CuNPs-N-C and SnS2 interfaces.•Combining the polarized electric field and the interfacial electric field promotes the separation of photo-induced carriers.•The photoelectrochemical water splitting mechanism space charge polarization is revealed by DFT simulations.
