Abstract
@@@@Highlights •Shear band networks were introduced into a Zr-based metallic glass by biaxial alternating compression.•The reverse shear stress during biaxial alternating compressions induces free volume annihilation, leading to a densification and significant hardening of MG.•The plastic events of MG with shear band networks become more difficult and their sizes become smaller, resulting in a work-hardening behavior and a quasi-uniform plastic deformation mode.
