Highlights •A template encryption and matching method is proposed for palmprint recognition.•PalmSecMatch extracts key data for template encryption from raw biometric vectors.•Data fading aligns the order of magnitude of the shuffling basis and the checksum.•Feature matching is conducted in ciphertext domain to avoid any plaintext leakage.
