Abstract
Programed instruction presented by a teaching machine which required a specific response pattern was used in an attempt to teach coin equivalencies to eight mentally retarded children. The initial success of the program suggested the development of further programs of coinage instruction. A theoretical interpretation of the proficiency of the particular response technique used in the study within the context of attention theory was also provided. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
