Abstract
The hoard was unearthed in the sector named Kaya Odası located in the south of Villa Danae at Zeugma in 23.03.2009. It consist 424 bronze coins and coin fragments, which are dated 4th and 5th century A.D. The earliest identified coin in the hoard attributed to house of Constantine and the latest one attributed Leo I. The coins bear the type of monogram that is uncertain gives the possible latest date of the hoard, around AD 490. Most of the identifiable coins can be attributed to Leo I, Theodosius II and Marcianus. It might be said that great majority of the coins probably came from the eastern mints. Mints of Antioch and Carthage to be represented with 6 coins and Constantinople, Nicomedia and Rome follow them respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
