Abstract
This article discusses the history of archaeological excavations and discoveries at the ancient site of Pompeii in Italy. The author presents a history of the ancient Roman city leading up to its destruction as a result of the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Several of the buildings that have been uncovered and preserved, including public baths, temples, and houses are also detailed.
