Abstract
The article provides several examples of historic maps including the Catawba Map given to South Carolina Francis Nicholson by an Indian leader believed to have been of the Catawba, then copied onto paper circa 1721 which outlines the relationships between local tribes; a fragment of the stone Forma Urbis Romae, a map of the city of Rome undertaken during the reign of emperor Septimius Severus; and an ink on silk Han dynasty topographical map located at a general's tomb, believed to have been the son of Changsha Kingdom ruler Li Cang, in Hunan, China.
