Abstract
The article discusses the history of Bermuda in relation to archaeological research on a Dutch ship that was wrecked on the island's shore in August 1619. Topics include testing of the greenheart wood used in the ship's construction, the salvaging of materials from the ship, and the relation of privateering to the island's economy.
