Abstract
The article focuses on Hare Harbor on Petit Mécatina Island, Quebec, in in southeastern Canada, and excavations being led by archaeologist William Fitzhugh, director of the Smithsonian Institution’s Arctic Studies Center. It explores how this site contains evidence that the Inuit people came into contact with the European Basques in the 17th century.
