Abstract
This study explored the possibility of using teaching and learning activities related to carbon neutrality in the achievement standards presented in elementary school science and social studies curriculum. To this end, 23 achievement standards related to carbon neutrality in the 2015 science and social studies curriculum were analyzed. As a result of the study, 16 achievement standards in elementary school science subjects and 7 achievement standards in social studies subjects were found to be related to carbon neutrality, and as the grades increased, the content related to carbon neutrality increased. Among the contents of carbon neutral education, the content about climate change response was included the most, and content about the causes and effects of climate change was often included in the science curriculum. Based on this, possible areas for teaching and learning activities related to carbon neutrality were presented. The results of this study can be used as reference material for curriculum reconstruction for carbon neutral education in elementary school education.
