Abstract
At the beginning of the nineteenth century, the French Court is passionating herself for modern dances, concurrencing the Opera for the high level of the way people of the Court can dance. Two sorts of spectacle live together: the "divertissement", whose dancers are the artists of the Opera, and the "quadrille d'apparat", a typical French contredanse brilliantly executed for an audience by the aristocraty. Moreover, this audience can applause the talent of some instrumentalists who occur regularly during the spectacles. This musical "decorative concertant syle" became an essential part of the Régime étiquette during the Napoleonic empire as well as the Restoration period. This music, perfectly incorporated into the official guidelines, will disappear as a consequence of the political events of 1830 and the arrival of a new aesthetic movement, the Romanticism.
