Abstract
A survey of training practices among heating, ventilation and air conditioning contractors reveals that most feel technicians could be better schooled. Most were in favor of on-the-job training and gave vo-tech schools low marks. Despite their rhetoric, few offer employees economic incentives for seeking training. Ninety percent of those polled said they received their training informally, from manufacturers and distributors.
