Abstract
Research indicates that eutrophic lakes are less likely to demonstrate biomass dilution than oligotrophic lakes, but are more likely to contain higher levels of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in sedimenting matter. Eutrophic lakes are also more likely to have higher settling fluxes of PCB and particulate matter, while oligotrophic lakes reveal a greater load of DDT in deep sediment.
