Abstract
Research on two bodies of water in Sweden indicate that eutrophic lakes demonstrate greater fluxes of metals than oligotrophic lakes, which may be explained by different geology, pH, and biomass. Water circulation and resuspension of particles in both types of lakes were found to enhance the dispersal of pollutants, along with metal sulfide solubilization.
