Abstract
There are pairwise correlations in coiled coils that can help in differentiating two-stranded coiled coils from non-coiled-coil domains. There are chances that in the databases, sequence features of the two-stranded coils do not include general features of the coiled coils. A method, implemented by a program called PAIRCOIL, predicts coiled-coil domains in protein sequences by applying pairwise residue correlations acquired from a coiled-coil database of 58,217 amino acid residues.
