Increased expression of glomerular AT1 receptors in rats with myocardial infarction

Abstract
An experiment was conducted on rats with myocardial infarction to test the theory that there is an increased expression of angiotensin receptors in the kidney of rats with reduced cardiac mass after coronary artery ligation. It was found that there was a significant over-expression of glomerular angiotensin type 1 receptor despite evidence for local activation of the renin-angiotensin system. Other results and their implications are discussed.
