Abstract
The National Museum of Wales sponsored extensive excavations of the scamnum tribunorum site located at the Roman Legionary Museum in Caerleon between 1983 and 1985. Unearthed was a fortress dating from circa 70-450 AD, including living quarters, roads and colonnades. The history of the excavation, the discoveries, the analysis of these discoveries and maps of the site are discussed. Specialists in various fields comment on the site's yield of pottery, stone tools, animal bones and copper tools, among other finds.
