Abstract
Pseudo-random binary sequences have been used in system identification for decades. Advances in electronics and computing have produced embedded systems which can perform this procedure without great cost. However certain technologies, such as flexible sensing and flexible analogue sensor networks can demand high performances from accompanying excitation and sampling systems; particularly when it is necessary to excite a wide range of frequencies. This paper presents a method to lessen this problem by minimising the number of samples required to perform an accurate PRBS-based system identification procedure. This process is evaluated using a simulation of an RLC circuit containing a flexible inductance-based sensor.
