Abstract
The structures with numerous nanoscale pillars, called “nanopillar”, are found on the wing surface of cicadas which express antibacterial and bactericidal properties physically. We fabricated some polymeric nanopillars of different dimensions by thermal nanoimprint lithography using anodized aluminum oxide as a template and tested their bactericidal properties against E. coli. As the results, we show that smaller nanopillars show stronger bactericidal effects against E. coli.
