Abstract
In the present research paper a new approach for the process parameters optimization of the green sand moulding process with multiple responses based on orthogonal array with grey relational analysis has been discussed. The effects of input variables namely clay content, moisture content, amount of coal dust and the mulling time are investigated for the responses Green Compression Strength and Permeability during green sand moulding process. Green Compression Strength and Permeability are optimized simultaneously using Grey Relational Analysis (GRA). The optimal setting of process parameters are determined using Grey relational grade as a performance index for the above mentioned response characteristics simultaneously. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) is used to determine the significant process parameters. The most significant process parameter affecting the multiple responses based on grey relational grade has been determined. Optimization of the design parameters simultaneously leading to a larger Green Compressive Strength and Permeability is observed. The potential of GRA in optimization of input process parameters successfully for multiple response characteristics has been proved.
