Abstract
Integrating Information Technology into special education has become increasingly important in supporting students with disabilities. Assistive technology tools and devices have the potential to enhance the learning experience, improve academic achievement, and increase independence for students with special needs. This paper examines the importance of IT in special education to support disabled students, focusing on the benefits and challenges of technology use. For students with disabilities, assistive technology can offer a variety of advantages, including assisting them in overcoming communication, mobility, or sensory challenges and enhancing their access to knowledge and educational resources. For instance, students with visual impairments can use assistive technology tools like text-to-speech software and screen readers to access course materials and complete assignments. In contrast, students with communication challenges can benefit from speech recognition software.
