Abstract
In order to measure the actual field strength of the electromagnetic environment with complex electromagnetic frequency bands, this paper is focused on two measurement methods: electric field probe and antenna. Based on theoretical analysis of their measurement principles, the accuracy of these two methods in measuring actual field strength in multi-source RF electromagnetic environments is compared and experimentally verified. The results indicate that the antenna method can accurately measure the actual field strength within its reliable frequency range, but saturation phenomena may occur due to factors such as its own structure and materials, leading to the measurement results to underestimate the actual value; Diode-type electric field probes can achieve a more accurate estimate of the actual field strength in a low-field-strength environment. Otherwise, they will tend to overestimate the actual field strength. However, thermocouple-type electric field probes are suitable for accurate measurement of the actual field strength of this type of RF field, provided they meet their own sensitivity requirements.
