Abstract
A compact configuration of relativistic magnetron with DO (MDO) is proposed in order to output the TE11 mode. In this diffraction output (DO) configuration, a plate-inserted coaxial TEM-TE11 converter is introduced to obtain a TE11 radiation pattern through full cavity extraction. Meanwhile, the DO adopts a ridge circular waveguide to reduce its radial size. To match the plate-inserted coaxial TEM-TE11 converter, the resonator system uses an eight-cavity slow wave structure and selects $\pi$ -mode fundamental harmonic as the operating mode. Through particle-in-cell (PIC) simulations, the proposed MDO of TE11 mode can generate an RF power of 1.1 GW with a pure TE11 mode at the frequency of 2.88 GHz when the diode voltage is 400 kV and the working magnetic field is 0.47 T, and the device efficiency is 61%.
