Satisfying the requirement of reliability for intralogistic systems is often bound to overdimensioning, which in turn results in higher investment and operational costs. As an alternative for systems like roller conveyors, linear drives may be an option. Their demand-compliant development requires knowledge on requirements as well as knowledge about existing problems in the development process and typical failures in the field. Within a comprehensive industry survey, these aspects have been identified and analyzed.
