Abstract
The article presents information about the ballet "Anastasia" created by Kenneth MacMillan and performed by American Ballet Theater at Metropolitan Opera House, New York. MacMillan originally created the work during his tenure as director of the Berlin State Opera Ballet. The Berlin version was created by Lynn Seymour and is actually based upon the life of Anna Anderson, the most persistent and celebrated claimant to Anastasia's title. The article also concedes that Cynthia Gregory and Martine van Hamel, who feature in the ballet, have performed well.
