Abstract
The article reports on the adoption of the Model Law on Cross-Border insolvency in Australia which was formulated by the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law. It notes that the law serves as an effective and harmonized framework for states in addressing cross-border insolvency. Key areas covered by the law are presented. Issues regarding the inconsistency of the Model Law with other insolvency laws as well as the consequences for foreign insolvency proceedings are also discussed.
