Abstract
The article offers information on the characterization of a bis-y-lactone analogous to avenaciolide with the use of elemental analysis, mass spectrometry and infrared and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. The authors explain that the structures of the compound and of the synthetic precursor were determined by X-ray diffraction analysis. Researchers found antifungal activity against Colletotrichum gloeosporioides while the synthetic precursor was inactive under the in vitro test conditions.
