Abstract
The article focuses on Indian images that commemorate the enlightenment of Buddha, as well as the Bodh Gaya, the site where it took place. One of the key features that link the images is the short neck, such as the main image in the Vajrasana chapel of Kumbum in Central Tibet, China. It provides a description as well as historical background of the main image in the Mahabodhi temple. It notes the substantial evidence that Tibetans and other Himalayan and Southeast Asian cultures were producing replicas of the Diamond Seat Buddha.
