Abstract
The article discusses research on type I interferon (IFNI) and myxovirus resistance protein (MxA) gene in immune activation in relation to acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Topics discussed include the function of plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDC) to produce IFN in response to bacterial and viral DNA, production of IFNI, and exertion of the antiviral activity of Mx proteins.
