Abstract
The article reflects on the role of playing in becoming Sanema. Intimate contact, play, and rituals as games assist the children in becoming Sanema. The Sanema identity is incorporated by feasting at play. A study about the Sanema inhabitants reveals their attitudes of being friendly, cooperative, and gracious. Observations of play and work were made among Sanema children of different ages. Furthermore, new areas of early socialization were examined. Some of these include the relationship between early extensive physical contact with older others and the facilitation of the empathic process in the child.
