Abstract
The article presents a study on the chemical degradation induced by superoxide radical of chlordanes and polychlorobiphenyls (PCBs) at low temperature. Twenty milligrams of chlordanes or PCBs are dissolved in two milliliter (mL)of ethanol and then added to the beaker that contains 10 mL methanol and two mL pyridine and 25 mL sodium metaperiodate. Results reveal that high chlorinated PCBs can be completely degraded to inorganic ions.
