Abstract
The article reports on the merger of the five New Jersey chapters of the nonprofit United Way on January 3, 2011 following a year of talks on how to increase their fundraising and operate more efficiently in the face of economic slowdown. The newly created United Way of Northern New Jersey (UWNNJ) has announced that the merger will not prompt layoffs. Former Morris County chapter chief executive officer (CEO) John Franklin was named CEO of the UWNNJ.
