Abstract
The article features Ronald J. Del Mauro, chief executive officer (CEO) of St. Barnabas Health Care System. Del Mauro became CEO in 1985 and focused on patient satisfaction and improving the self-esteem of the doctors and employees while the system was on the brink of bankruptcy. In 2008, Del Mauro had to reduce the positions and number of employees due to the recession. Governor Chris Christie recommends that the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey take over St. Barnabas.
