Abstract
Barry Lam, chairman of Quanta Computer, has seen the company's shares rise due to AI-fueled growth, making him the top of the list for the first time. Quanta remains the world's largest contract manufacturer of laptops, shipping 47 million units in 2023. However, its cloud computing business has become its biggest source of revenue, accounting for over 45% of sales last year. Quanta is the top supplier of servers to cloud service providers, including Meta and Google, and is increasing production of AI servers. Despite a decrease in laptop demand, server sales helped boost net profit by 37% to NT$40 billion ($1.2 billion) last year. Lam and vice chairman C.C. Leung attended the same high school and university, and together they founded Quanta in 1988. The company has factories worldwide, including in mainland China, North America, and Europe, with plans for a new factory in Vietnam. [Extracted from the article]
