Abstract
According to Forbes Asia, Malaysia's 50 richest individuals have seen only a modest increase in their combined wealth, which now stands at $83.4 billion. Robert Kuok, the founder of the Kuok Group, remains Malaysia's richest person with a net worth of $11.5 billion. Quek Leng Chan, executive chairman of Hong Leong Co. (Malaysia), retains his position as the country's second richest despite a dip in his net worth. The Teh siblings, who inherited a stake in Public Bank, have moved up to third place, while property gains have propelled the Lee brothers of the IOI group into the top five for the first time. The biggest gainers this year are Francis Yeoh and his siblings, who more than tripled their combined fortune to $4.7 billion. The list also includes four newcomers, including heirs of late casino mogul Chen Lip Keong and ports magnate G. Gnanalingam. The methodology used to compile the list includes shareholding and financial information obtained from various sources. [Extracted from the article]
