Abstract
The authors describe an outbreak of Klebisella oxytoca bacteremia in the intensive care unit (ICU) of a tertiary care hospital. They discuss the isolation of Klebisella oxytoca from blood cultures of patients who had developed fever within two consecutive days. An analysis showed that the only difference between case and control patients was insulin infusion, indicating that a shared insulin vial may have been contaminated with Klebisella oxytoca.
