Abstract
The article discusses the method of controlling corrosion to measure the acid number in crude oil and refinery distillation fractions. Topics include the mechanism of corrosion from combined naphthenic acid and sulfur content, the technique for measuring the acid number and sulfur content of the crude or refinery fraction to control corrosion in the processing of crude oil, and correlation between thermometric and potentiometric methods.
