Abstract
The article offers information on Long Covid, the post-acute and long-term adverse health effects caused by SARS-CoV-2 infection. Topics include the epidemiology and clinical manifestations of Long Covid; its biologic underpinnings; and the effectiveness of vaccination and antivirals in preventing it. The article discusses Long Covid as a complex disease with many subtypes and potential pathogenic pathways, including persistence of the virus, autoimmune response, and mitochondrial dysfunction.
