Abstract
Interest in the abuse of tianeptine in the United States has been increasing over the past decade ([1]). Following an extensive preliminary review of the social media themes, 210 unique posts were gleaned from Reddit. Thus, it appears that these aggressive increases in dose were highly motivated by avoidance of negative symptoms of withdrawal - a catch 22 as higher doses are also clearly associated with increased adverse effects.
